Hotel AGON Franke - Berlin, Germany 

My wife booked this hotel for me as part of a Birthday Present - so I had no choice! However I must say that I found the staff at Reception very friendly and helpful. They were informative and did more than I expected! The room was basic to be honest. The breakfast was Continental, which was advertised and was perfectly fine also. There is no mention of English Breakfast being served at this hotel therefore why are people complaining abou this? I am disappointed with the tea and coffee making facilities as there are none available in the room although if you ask at reception they would have provided tea and coffee on demand! The hotel bar which was advertised is non-existant and this particular aspect disappointed my wife and I. Again, the reception offered any drinks asked for but it's just not the same! Overall my Wife and I were happt with the hotel. Clean tidy, firendly staff and certainly no shabby carpet! We will return to this Hotel if they can get their bar back!!

Upon research and after reading many reviews, my wife and I felt there were more positive than negative advisements about the Agon Franke in this site. Unfortunately, after attending the hotel, we now know the truth. I have a feeling that those whose reviews praised this hotel probably have not been to any average scale (3 star) hotels or resorts. Or, they just had to settle for the Franke due to either overbooking to a hotel of their first choice or lack just the lack of research on their end. If attending this hotel don't have any expectations. My wife and I are fairly experienced travelers and found this hotel the worst place of stay. It definitely does not classify as a 3 star hotel. We actually believe it should not be rated at all. It should be a "Walk In, First come first serve" hotel. The breakfast is basically a continental breakfast with the addition of scrambled eggs and hotdogs. Not appealing at all. Breakfast out everyday was a better choice. Cleanliness was average. But when you think about of it, it must be extremely hard to keep an already beat up shabby place clean...........Applause to the cleaning crew who do their best to keep this deteriorating place alive. The help (reception/front desk) were not friendly and acted extremely rude. When asked for something, they always had some remark back which made us feel uncertain. The food preparation/dining room clean up help were also not friendly either. When you say "hello, good morning", you were just ignored. They did not look very happy or acted like they enjoy doing their job. Resultingly, and unlike our norm, we have no photos of the hotel and or crew and would just rather like to forget our experience at the Agon Franke. Of course we will never return! One suggestion to those who are so quick and willing to send in their reviews. Maybe one should wait until adequate experience is reached to share such reviews. When praising a 3 star hotel, you might want to attend a few prior to publicizing your report. Please realize, some of the public do appreciate the honesty, bad or good, in these reviews in helping with the fnal decisions made.
