This hotel is in Dresden Neustadt, which is across the river from downtown. It is a wonderful renovation of an old building, so it's very new, clean and comfortable. There are nice amenities, such as coffee and snacks in the lobby and a swimming pool. We booked a room on he back (for a bit more) so it was quiet. It's right on a tram line and close to several others, so it's easy to get around. I'd definitely stay there again.

We were in Dresden to go to the opera - the new production of Die Zauberflote at the Semperoper (almost but not quite as ghastly as the old early 1980's production that it replaced) and Candide at the Dresdner Staatsoperette (a real find way out in the suburbs) and wanted a small hotel for a couple of nights. We could not have chosen better for our purposes.
The property is part hotel/part residence, with what appeared to be little distinction drawn between the two. Thus, one of our two rooms had a kitchenette attached and a walk-in closet. Also, being constructed within at least two old buildings, the corridors are a bit higgledy-piggledy making finding ones way around a bit of a journey of discovery. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable, clean and serviceable. Breakfast was a strong point - a cut above the normal (and usually very good) German offering. Surprising was the fact that, during the afternoons, one could help oneself to coffee, tea, cakes and biscuits in the foyer!
If arriving by train, alight at Bhf Dresden Neustadt. The hotel is easily walkable from there: for those not wishing to walk, there is a convenient tram route with a stop at the end of Rothenberger Strasse.
Dresden is not a particularly late night city, so don't expect a wide choice of restaurants to be open after a visit to the opera. However, we did find a serviceable and very friendly Turkish caff just up Rothenberger Strasse on the same side as the hotel (The Dresdner Staatsoperette has its own restaurant directly in front, staffed at least in part by catering students).
