Hotel Stadt Freiburg - Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany     

I was selected to stay in this hotel because they offer the shuttle bus to the exhibition center. But, when i was there. no shuttle bus. I have to call a taxi. This hotel located far from city center, the surrounding area is nothing. I recommend to choose downtown hotel. Because without transportation service, Closer to exhibition center is nothing. It is not just the first complain. The room was full of smoking smell, the reception staff was very cold. Really bad service! At last, they send another credit cart slip and bill to my home by mail. but it is not my booking. The staff did mistake by put other's room charge to my credit card. I can't find any good point in this hotel. Bad service, impolite service and CHEAT.

Thanks to the previous reviewer we had no problems at all in finding the hotel: just turn off the road at the tire store and you're there (there's also a small sign but it's very easy to overlook). Parking was free in front of the hotel, with many more parking places at the back. The lobby area seems to have been newly added or totally renovated recently, and looked very nice. This is also the main picture they show on their website. The restaurant for breakfast and a tea/coffee shop are also in this pleasant part of the building. I found the tea/coffee shop to be somewhat of an oddity for a hotel of this modest size, but maybe they cater for customer to the platic surgeon store that is also located in the hotel's building. Rooms are spacious and clean, but with a strange interior: some elements (walls, bathroom, beds, curtains) are white and sterile like in a hospital, whereas other elements seem to be completely out of line with this: a cruffy grey couch, an old wooden table that could have belonged to grandma, and a weird cheapish cream coloured cupboard with an empty fridge and a locked section (which I now understand to have been a sort of mini-kitchen). Room have no airconditioning, but the modern widows can tilt or open fully. If you intend to sleep with open windows then ask for a room on the backside of the hotel. There's a small airport close to the rear side of the hotel, but it is not budy at all and seems to close at night.
