Wow - this hotel was amazing!!! We stayed at 8 hotels during our recently completed central Europe road trip, and this hotel MADE our journey. The staff is incredible. They are so nice and helpful. We were amazed by one young woman in particular who was speaking German right before we walked up to ask a question about restaurants, then spoke English to us, and turned around and spoke Italian to the people behind us. The staff here were all very special, highly trained, and the nicest hotel staff we have EVER met! Some other highlights: - Perfect location, literally right in the middle of Fussen and bordering on the pedestrian center. It was a 5 minute drive to the castles and Fussen is a great base from which to see the castles - more to do there at night (in terms of shopping and restaurants) than in Reutte or in Schwangu. - Lovely decorations in the common areas and the guest rooms. In fact, upon checking in, I was thrilled to find Ludwig and Sissi costumes on manicains in the lobbey. That, as well as the giant mural of Neuschwanstein in the elevator made it clear that they know exactly why you are staying there, which is nice. The breakfast room, starwell and other areas were all equally lovely, and the guest rooms felt more opulant than any I have ever stayed at upon multiple visits throughout Europe. - Breakfast was very good and quite complete. All the expected European cold items such as fresh breads, granola, and yogurt - as well as scrambled eggs and sausages. - We didn't expect this at all - but there was also a free internet kiosk, free laundry services, and free use of the very nicely appointed sauna room. - Great parking. We were on this trip after buying a new Volvo through their Euro Delivery Program, and it was nice to know our car was safe in the Sonne lot. We didn't look at the interiors of the other hotels in Fussen, but it was clear that Sonne was the best situated and lovliest. STAY THERE!!!

We arrived via rail in Fussen around five pm. Check in was a breeze and very pleasant. the young lady spoke english and was able to answer all questions. Upon arriving to the room, we decided we didn't want a street side view. i called down and the young lady, immeadiately affirmed a change. We went for a walk and decided to dine in house. The meal was scrumptuous and the wine splendid. Service was fantastic. We had a few more questions about the castles and were pleased with the responses. We slept like logs. Beds quite comfortable. It appears that the Sonne cuts the heat off at night as well, but did not get too uncomfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. A very nice variety. Upon return, we took advantage of the 'Fitness Lion' next door. Be warned that nudity is commonplace in the wet area. After another wonderful night, we were reluctant about leaving. Should the opportunity ever arise again, the Sonne is where I'd stay in Fussen.
