Hotel Goldene Rose - Heidelberg, Germany 

This is a small, European type boutique hotel within a 5 minute walk from the Frankfurt Airport shuttle stop at Crowne Plaza Hotel. It is also at the beginning of the pedestrian walkway to the historical district. Going the other direction it is near lots of department stores, food market shopping. The breakfast room is one of the most pleasant I have had the pleasure of experiencing. We were there in Jan, yet there was a variety of fresh fruit plus they will serve you a hot egg dish along with all the other choices. The staff is among the most helpful and friendly that I have encountered. All had smiles everytime you saw them. I can only speak for our room #48 which they considered a suite. It must have been newly decorated because everything was new, fresh, and clean. The bathroom was quite large and it had a balcony facing the hills covered with snow. I would have given an excellent rating except the booking agent that I used and other booking agents that I checked listed the suite with a minibar and a kitchenette. It had neither. When I protested on checking in the cheerful young man at the desk said they had not had those since they remodeled 2 years ago. He then gave us a reduction in rate to the standard room rate and said he would see that the booking agents got a new description. I highly recommend this hotel and if I get back to Heidelberg, will stay there again.

Sehr gutes Hotel für einen Kurzbesuch in Heidelberg. Es liegt am unteren Ende der großen Fußgängerzone "Hauptstrasse", die an allen Sehenswürdigkeiten vorbei zum Schloß führt, in einer relativ ruhigen Seitenstrasse. Das gesamte Gebäude ist sehr verwinkelt, die Zimmer sind klein, aber tadellos sauber; gleiches gilt für das Bad. Das Frühstück war überdurchschnittlich für ein 3* Haus. Der Service sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich - die Dame am Empfang hat für uns auch den Fremdenführer gebucht, Besichtigungsvorschläge gemacht, Restaurantempfehlungen ausgesprochen und die Reservierung vorgenommen.
