ELITE an der Universitat - Cologne, Germany     

We travelled with three children and booked two rooms-one 2 bed and one 3 bed. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fine. The hotel is close to the university and the area gets busy at night. We found the area to be friendly and didn't feel threatened by the large numbers of people in the streets in the evening. There is a tram stop (line 9) very close to the hotel. NB-the 3 bedded room was on the 5th floor but the lift only goes to the 4th floor.

Me and my friend stayed here last year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay from begining to end. The rooms were kept clean on a daily basis. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, as were the maids very polite. (The reception is 24 hours, which is very handy if you want to stay out late) Breakfast was nice and the surrounding area is great for nightlife. If you are thinking of taking a train to Bonn etc, the train station is located less than 2 minutes walk away which is very handy. There are plenty of take-away shops and restaurants in the vicinity, which is handy when you dont want to cook on holiday. The rooms were nice and bright with a television with a good selection of international channels and importantly good size wardrobes to both hang and store your clothes in. The bathrooms were compact and crammed with good features such as a shower, a hairdryer, razor socket and air conditioning etc. This hotel was great value for money, look forward to returning, also Cologne is a truely beautiful city. If you visit, remember to take a trip over the river in the cable carts, the river is beautiful and visit the Dom (Cathedral) which is massive! You will have a sore neck looking up to the top from the bottom.
