TRYP Munchen - Munich, Germany     

We spent three nights at the Tryp Munchen in October 2007 and would definitely stay there again. Front desk staff were very helpful and efficient at both check in and check out. Room was typical European, not particularly big, but clean and space was well used. Very convenient to the main train station and a short walk to the Marienplatz and main tourist destinations. Only minor complaints were the two twins pushed together as a double (not unusual in Europe) and the hotel bar service was not the best on a busy evening. The price was very good considering the location and the poor conversion rate of the dollar to the euro.

I got quite a good room rate - €89 - considering that this was Munich during a trade fair time. As others have commented, the hotel isn't central, but its only about a 15 minute walk to the pedestrian area which starts at Stachus. The railway station is about a 5 minute walk away. Check in was very easy - all done in a couple of minutes. The room I had seemed like one half of a suite, so actually the double bed was an opened out sofa bed. Not a problem, as I was there on my own on business. The room was large with a good view. The main disappointment was the lack of internet service. I could not get any service in the room and, whilst there was cable connection provided as well, this also did not work. Made even more difficult to understand because the rooms were proudly presented as 'business class'. I had to take my laptop down to the lobby and do some work there, which wasn't ideal. Breakfast was very good - a really good spread and included in the price. On the whole I would stay here again - if they could get the internet sorted out, then I would certainly stay again, with no hesitation. It is good value for money in a city whose accommodation is quite expensive.
