Hotel Torbrau - Munich, Germany     

We stayed at the Torbrau over the new year period and we thought it was a nice hotel. The location is fantastic, literally 1 minute from the s-bahn station and only 40 mins direct from the airport. We booked a suite which was on the 3rd floor and it was very clean and comfortable which is the main thing. The staff were very efficient and helpful and the breakfast each morning was also really nice. The hotel is accros the road from the Isator where over the festive period everyone went there to drink gluhwein and eat wursts (typical Bavarian fare and fantastic I must say!). The hotel is also within walking distance of everything including the main station (about 20-30 mins walk) and it is very close to Marianplatz where all the new years eve stuff went on. There were a couple of small problems - the TV in our room did not work properly and as we were in a suite there were 2 TV's which we had to physically swap around but the front desk did try and help. I wouldn't normally watch TV on a trip but I fell ill and spent half a day in our room so to have a working TV would have been good. Also the door handle to the room door fell off - apart from that it was a perfectly good hotel.

When traveling to Munich, the Hotel Torbrau is without question the best choice for accomodations. The location is ideal -- a safe and convenient location in close proximity to everything exciting about Munich. The rooms are very clean and quite roomy and luxurious by european standards. The desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful -- better than anywhere I have stayed worldwide! They went out of their way to make sure our every need was attended to with our satisfaction. Our only complaint was with the breakfast host -- when he discovered we were Americans he began bashing President Bush. Regardless of our political views, we felt it inappropriate for a hotel manager to begin a conversation with his foreign guests by bashing their President. But aside from this, I highly recommend this hotel.
