Hotel Marienbad - Nurnberg, Germany 

We booked this hotel for what was a very reasonable rate during the world cup. The location was excellent just a couple of minutes walk from the station and only a couple more minutesinto the town centre. The welcome at reception could not have been warmer and more helpful. English was very good - just as well as we only spoke a little german. This is not a four star hotel but if like us you simply want a comfortable room to return to after being out most of the day then that is what you will get. We stayed there for 3 nights and I actually spent a good 24 hours in the hotel for one day as I was ill (no fault of the hotel) and I certainly did not feel uncomfortable in anyway. The breakfast was excellent, the standard stock of most german hotels ie cereals, yoghurts, fruit, bread, cheese and cold meats and some hot plates as well. We were not rushed in ay way over breakfast and we did not have to queue. All in all a most pleasant stay and if we went back to Nuremberg we would try to reserve a room at this hotel before trying any others.

Wir buchten dieses Hotel für einen recht anständigen Preis während der WM. Die Lage war exzellent, nur ein paar Minuten vom Bahnhof und ein paar Minuten mehr vom Zentrum entfernt. Die Begrüßung an der Rezeption hätte nicht warmherziger und hilfsbereiter sein können. Sie habe auch gut Englisch gesprochen, was auch gut war, da unser Deutsch nicht so gut ist. Es ist kein 4-Sterne-Hotel, aber wenn Sie wie wir einfach nur ein komfortables Zimmer haben wollen, in das Sie nach einem langen Tag zurückkehren wollen, dann sind Sie hier richtig. Wir waren für drei Nächte hier und ich habe auch einmal einen vollen Tag im Hotel verbracht, da ich krank war (dafür konnte das Hotel aber nichts) und ich habe mich dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück war exzellent, die übliche Auswahl für deutsche Hotels mit Cerealien, Yoghurt, Obst, Brot, Käse, Aufschnitt und auch ein paar warmen Speisen. Beim Frühstück herrscht keine Hatz und wir mussten auch nicht Schlange stehen. Alles in allem ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt und wenn wir noch einmal nach Nürnberg reisen, dann werden wir versuchen, in diesem Hotel ein Zimmer zu bekommen, bevor wir es bei anderen versuchen.
