Star Inn Hotel - Regensburg, Germany 

This hotel is located right beside about a dozen rail tracks. There are trains passing by very often. The windows are well insulated and you can barely hear the trains as they pass . . . . if the windows are closed, however, this hotel doesn't have air conditioning so I think that closing the windows isn't practical when it's warm outside. We only paid 84 euros in October of 2007 and that was inexpensive. The hotel was basic, nice and clean. The rooms were of average European size. Price did not include breakfast and that ran 10 euros. If you need Internet access then that will cost between 2 and 18 euros depending on the amount of time needed. The quality of the WiFi is highly variable from room to room (T-Mobile). Unhappily it didn't work much in our room (#111) and the hotel staff seemed to be aware of this, so if you need good access then you must specifically ask for a room with good signal strength. This hotel is only a few blocks from the main train station, not in the historic district, however, the historic district is only a 10 minute walk and I would image that the hotel was much cheaper than others in the historic district. Lastly, Regensburg is a small city but it will take a whole day to visit. We really liked it.
