Residenz Hotel am Zuckerberg - Trier, Germany 

This hotel is unusual in that it is also a residence for the elderly or at least part of it is set aside for long term elderly residents. I stayed here with some friends and we found it to be well run with a good reception and English spoken (Thank you). The rooms were spotless and well equiped and above all else the beds were very good and the hotel was quiet so we slept well. The reception is tucked away in a small courtyard with no parking inside. So park on the road and nip inside to register and then drive around to the underground carpark. The rooms are large and really small flats with kitchens, lounges in addition to a large wet room shower toilet and good size bedroom. The hotel has free internet connection via PC in the library, lifts in all areas and an excellent breakfast. Trier itself is a good place to visit and we recommend the open top bus ride to view the city as you can get off and get back on again as your ticket is valid all day. Avoid the boat trip that takes you upstream as this is pretty dull, but the trip downstream may be better (not tested). I can recommend this hotel for Trier.

I escorted 57 people to Trier for their Christmas markets and I found the Residenz am Zuckerberg with the help of the Trier Tourist Board. Excellent value and not one of the 57 people had a complaint. The room is more like an apartment and it was spotless. The staff is more than helpful and the location is a 4 minute walk from the Marktplatz. The breakfast is great and you can't beat the price. I have to say also that the bed was the more comfortable in Europe and I have travel everywhere. The street is quiet and I would definitely return.
