The hotel Elephant is located in the heart of Weimar, close to the trade fair and the theater. Weimar, the "city of the classics" at the place where Goethe, Schiller and Bach once laid down their heads to rest. The world-famous Hotel Elephant - a rendezvous of international poets, artists, intellectuals, and statesmen for more than 300 years.

We recently stayed two night in this hotel. As most reviewers stated it is very centrally located in Weimar, which is by far its most important asset. We paid 160 Euros per night for a "luxury room", plus 13 Euros for parking and 20 Euros for breakfast (now folks, that's 32 US Dollars!). All in all rather expensive given the reality of the hotel, no internet, no ac (just fans upon request), a rather somber entree, and fairly basic rooms. We will definitely look for other options next time we visit Weimar.
