I booked a room early in 2007 for a 3 night stay in Dec. I could not wait to see the fortress from my window - What a BIG disappointment - The one tiny window looked on to a parking lot. The room was so-o-o small we had difficulty finding room for our 4 large suitcases. I do know rooms are small in Europe but this was unbelievable . The bathroom could barely hold one person (really)! There were only 2 of us in the room. I felt compelled to say something . I went calmly the next morning & explained my disappointment to the desk. He was a short & said I picked the non-view, less expensive room over the internet. I explained I dealt directly with the hotel & I was never asked if I wanted a room with a view. I said I wanted to move but there was none for that night & he would try to get one for the next night (our last)- which he did & they did move our belongings to the room with a view which I paid 30 more Euros for ---but by that time the thrill was gone .Make sure you do not get room106. Also we paid 10 euros for parking , per night & when I went to exit I had about 2 inches on each side of the car. It took about 1/2 hour to squeese out of the garage

As a family of four, the hotel recommended us to their "appartment", located in an building about 1 minute around the corner. This worked fine for us. The appartment is more accurately a studio, with a good sized room and a small kitchen. Everything was very clean, and well, if simply, appointed.
We took breakfast in the hotel dining room, and enjoyed a typical continental buffet, with hot and cold food.
Overall, we had a good stay at the Walfisch, and very much enjoyed the sights of Wurzburg.
