We were very pleasantly surprised by the Amberger - especially having read 2 fairly poor reviews. Yes it's a small hotel, the rooms aren't huge but it's clean, centrally located, perfectly adequate breakfast and a staff who we found were very friendly and very helpful. All that at a very reasonable rate!! Plus there's an excellent Italian restaurant next door!!

We ended up staying at the Amberger after a last-minute scramble for a room, and although I was happy to find accomodation there I don't think I'd stay again. The room was tiny and stuffy, the furnishings a little run-down. This is definitely a package tour kind of place. Breakfast was good and plentiful, staff was friendly, location is okay--not as central as some other hotels in Wurzburg, but still within walking distance of most sights. In sum, it's fine, but you can probably do better.
