Half Moon Hotel And Restaurant - Alford, United Kingdom 

We travelled to the hotel for a single night stop-over and found a real gem, will almost certainly return. The staff were both friendly and efficient, the rooms were spacious and spotless. The restaurant provided a wide range of well cooked and presented evening meals and an excellent breakfast. With a number of bars from a traditional taproom,and a quieter lounge attached to the restaurant, there was plenty of choice. Whilst we couldn't use in in February, there was also a pleasent looking beer garden. All in all, a very comfortable stop and excellent value (both the room and the meals).

This traditional pub with parking provided the perfect stop over with friends, when visiting the area. The website is an accurate reflection of the pub and accommodation. Our room, in a new ground floor extension, was clean, light and functional with a real 'wake you up' shower. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, even supplying a bucket and ice for our own champagne. Our breakfast was excellent - local produce - and we had excellent service despite arriving a little late. We are only sorry that we didn't have time to sample the traditional pub food in the evening- the local taxi driver told us that the Half Moon has a really good reputation with locals. The owners seem to have been at the pub for some 30 years, extending it over that time. If everyone has the welcome and service we received then it's not difficult to see why they have been successful. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Half Moon to anyone wanting good traditional B&B with a smile !
