I stayed at the windsor with my girlfriend and two other people. We booked two room. At first we were a little bit hesitate about the hotel but found that this hotel have more to offer. True that the hotel is located in the District 5 but trust me you do not want to be in District 1 unless you are one of those tourist that like to see alot of people and be part of the crowds. Also, this district is much safer than the main tourist district. Like others say, there is a market next to the hotel. This market is so much better than the one in district one and better price. I don't want to be too biased but district 5 is also very close to the chinese area of saigon. There a very good restuarant about a block from the hotel where you can pick the lobster or any seafood you want, and it fresh. There other restuarant around there is a very good and clean. My cousin say that alot of the restuarant in district 5 are own by chief from Hong Kong and that district 1 is gear toward more tourist so you won't get to experience the true saigon taste. Plus the price in district 1 is over price..trust me because they know most of the tourist stay in D1. True that his hotel is not the best but if you are in vietnam, you do not want to stay in your hotel just there to sleep and clean up which the hotel is very clean. District 5 is good also because if you want to leave the city, you do not have to go thru D1, it so convenient. Oh, when you leave the city heading toward the north, be sure to stop at this one rice place just before you leave the city. It is outdoor and probably the biggest restuarant. Most locals and some very well guilded tour go there and have lunch. Reason we go there was that my cousin say it clean and safe. We ate there going out and coming back and nothing happen to my stomach. If you want a very quite stay outside and do nothing , Mui Ne is a good location. Otherwise a few more hour drive, if you want to have more fun and do more thing, try nha trang. There are thuy Doung which is closer and where the local go to get away from the city.

My wife and I booked the Windsor Plaza through a net website and we both enjoyed our stay. Although the hotel is in District 5, it was close enough to the action downtown in District 1, complete with a complimentary shuttle bus to the vibrant District 1 area. The market next door to the hotel was friendly and had A/C compared with other HCMC markets. There was a happy hour on the top floor of the hotel, which is appreciated after a day in the heat as well as comfortable beds and great bathrooms.
