We originally booked the Inglaterra hotel, but for some reason (they said it had something to do with renovations) we had to change to the Plaza.
The best thing about the Plaza is the location - it's great for sightseeing in Old Havana, just across the street from the National theatre and a short walk away from the Revolution museum. And two minutes away from the Floridita for the best daiquiri in the world!!!
The rooms are very simple and kind of worn. We booked a double room, but ended up with a room with two beds - extremely dissapointing, considering that we stayed there for the first three nights of our honeymoon :)
The restaurant where breakfast is served is on the top floor, and there's outside seating on the roof - the view is fantastic!!! The breakfast itself is pretty good as well.
Overall, it's a pretty avarege 3-star hotel (although I think it's oficially 4-star). It's a good place to stay if you plan to stay in Havana for just a few days and want to explore Old Havana. But I wouldn't recommend it for a long stay.

we were booked into the Plaza as part of an Explore holiday, and had just come from the Saratoga just down the road. The Saratoga had some issues, but there were more in the Plaza! It's in a great location, backing onto the Bacardi building and walking distance of old Havana and is a pleasant old building. It's big and fairly impersonal and as long as you don't expect too much it's fine. The rooms tho were extremely noisy from machinery rather than more pleasant city sounds. Almost everyone in the group seemed to suffer from this so it affects a lot of rooms. Rooms very basic, but showers worked. Restaurant on the roof which was pleasant, and in fact a very good breakfast. Dinners did not look so good and we did not eat there. Overall, OK for a night or two
