We came to Scala hotel two adults and a baby for 4 nights and had a great holiday.
The hotel is very clean, quiet, and in a very good location, beeing in the center of crete and only 15 minuites drive from heraklion airport.
We stayed at a two rooms apartment with a nice view of the sea, a kitchen and a balcony.
But most importantly the hospitality was great, the owners are super nice and when we arrived the room was ready with the baby bad and a baby chair.

I should have been suspicious of a 5* hotel for only 45 euros a night but it wasn't even worth that. On picture it looks great but when you get there...... the familly sits in the reception having there meal and give dirty looks to customers coming in. Thank goodness the receptionist was a bit friendly. Day we arrived the toilet broke and the DIL (receptionist was gone) who doesn't speak english came to have a look and said she would try and get a plumber in the next day. So we were without a toilet for 24 hours. We were not even offered another room as it was full. Next day plumber comes and plays around with toilet, says it is fixed and goes away. Minutes later the water started coming out of the back and started flooding the bathroom ! I got another dirty look from the familly who were having their lunch (4 in the afternoon) in the reception and again the daughter came to the room and managed to stop the water flowing. Now she offered us another room, but as we were leaving the next day I didn't have the energy to pack all our suticases and move so we stayed till the next day. We had also been told that we could not stay longer than the 12am limit as the room was rented out (which of course was not true). Even without the toilet incident it was a very unfriendly atmoshphere. The bathroom had a tub the size of a midget so you could not even take a bath if you wanted to. The kitchenette had broken crockery and a broken bin. Breakfast was also a joke with very little choice and thought they offered eggs (fried or boiled) they were cold.... disgusting. Also there was absolutely no room service in the two days were there, no bed made, no towels changed nothing.
I was hoping for at least an apology or a discount but nothing..... we paid full price for room and breakfast.
