Adagio - Saumur, France 

Saumur is at the Western end of the Chateau area around the Loire. The hotel itself is located on an island and is a traditional French city building. The rooms are fairly small but comfortable. The main part of the city is about a 10 minute walk. There is a small private and secure parking area, otherwise, parking is in the street outside, but there wasn;t much available during our stay. Basically, everything works as it should - the room was comfortable and clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed in Saumur in late May for 2 nights in order to visit the Loire Valley. As stated in other posts, it is situated on an island in the Loire River and a nice walk into the town center. There are also some nice restaurants on the same street as the hotel. A great Creperie/Italian place!!! I wish we had taken the train to Saumur from Paris, as the train station is close by, and a Europecar rental car agency is on the same street as the hotel. It would have been an easy train connection in Tours. As we walked in, we were greeted by the nicest woman and made to feel so at home. What a pleasant surprise!! Our room was small, but well equipped. Our bathroom had a large window and was very modern!! The lobby was very comfortable with a pool table, small bar and comfortable seating. We happened to meet some very interesting people there on our first night!! The lobby also has a computer with free internet connection. The rooms also have free internet availability. Be sure to drive to Chinon. It is a really pretty city and worth the drive. If you are in the area, this hotel is a great choice!!!
