The hotel is situated in "Pleno Camino de Santiago", in the ancient route (Camino Frances), near Sarria (Lugo), it is a place of exceptional natural beauty, surrounded by gardens and close to the river, which has the same name as the village. It is also centrally located, a few meters from the main city's monuments, following "Ruta del Romanico". In the ancient part of the city, you can find a road dedicated to local antiquaries and craftsmen. My friend and I spent two nights at the Alfonso IX while walking on the Camino. It is really a great option for a good nights sleep and hot shower for tired and aching bodies. The hotel is a close walk to the center of town, has a nice little bar, a good breakfast buffet, and the front desk staff are helpful and friendly, but with very limited English if your spanish is lacking.
