This Hotel was recommended to me by a close friend, who had stayed there in the past. I am very picky when it comes to Hotel accomodation, and with Appia I was'nt disappointed. It was obviously an old building completely refurbished to the highest of standards . The roof wood beams are left exposed, and a lot of the old structure is in perfect harmony with the new.I would recommend a stay here to anyone.

This is our second visit to the Appia and we have booked room 101 on both occasions. It is a ground floor room with doors opening onto a small private patio area. The room is huge with a fabulous bed, lovely shower room and hallway with plenty of storage space. The hotel is spotless, so well maintained both in the bedroom and the walkways. The hotel is full of character and set in an area with various embassy's including the US embassy which has a discret police presence, so it feels very safe and secure. The Charles Bridge is a lovely stroll away with plenty of sights nearby, and also very close to Prague Castle which is well worth the initial climb uphill. We recommended this hotel to our daughter who has also stayed and loved it too.
I feel I must echo the sentiments of a previous reviewer for a wonderful little vegetarian restaurant which is a short walk over the other side of the Charles Bridge that we visited every day for lunch and dinner. It is the Lehka Hlava, address Borsov 2/280, Prague 1 - Old Town. You may need to book in advance as it is rightfully popular. Wonderfully tasty food, extensive menu, large portions, beautiful setting, speedy service, pretty cheap for such great food, I can't give it enough praise. We ate in a room with a ceiling dark blue with twinkly stars. It is just dark enough to feel intimate but light enough to read the menu which takes quite some time! The drinks are also worth a mention, try the Aloe Vera drink, weird but wonderful. GO, GO, GO, try it you won't be dissapointed.
