First the bad news! I booked an apartment via [--] and was given as my hotel 'VK Apartments at Janska 7. (I found this on the map and was happy with the location) It then turned out that this was a lower level agency that allocated me to Artesse Apartments - without any notification what so ever. The location of these apartments is not as good and had I known where they were I would not have accepted the offer of the booking. You can see from the following information that it is not a 'central location'.
Charles Bridge – 1.5 kilometers (1 mile)
National Theater – 1.5 kilometers (1 mile)
Prague Castle – 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles)
Wenceslas Square – 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles)
Vy?ehrad Castle – 3 kilometers (2 miles)
Old Town Square – 3 kilometers (2 miles)
National Museum – 3 kilometers (2 miles)
Jewish Quarter – 3.5 kilometers (2 miles)
There is however, a good tram service nearby and a metro station about half a mile away.
The apartment itself was clean, furnished in an old style but with bright covers and curtains etc. No carpets or rugs but a new wooden floor. The bathroom, with bath and shower is very modern, fully tiled and well fitted out. The kitchen is minimum with a nice fridge, small hotplate and, in my case, a microwave on the dressing table!
The reception staff were on duty for a reasonable period (9.00 - 4.00?) each day and were very helpful.
It was inexpensive and good value - had the location been better I would have been happy and willing to return.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Our double room was huge. There was a big wardrobe, with a safe inside. On the other side of the room we thought there was another massive wardrobe but on opening was actually a kitchenette. Bathroom was a luxury white one - very clean. Can't remember how often towels were changed - but I can't understand people wanting new ones every day - it's not necessary! Room had lovely furniture and was very clean and warm, which is important in Winter there as it's so cold! You probably won't see anyone else staying because there's no breakfast room - you just ring Reception and 10 mins later they bring it to your room (you have a table to sit at, plus 4 chairs). There's so much of it you can't eat it all. Hotel front door is a little tricky to find - there's no big sign outside, but the small street is easy to find and there's a little triangular park there. When you get your room key card the outside door to the street automatically opens with that - so don't forget your key card when you leave! Receptionist was really nice and gave us a map and highlighted on it the best sights and restaurants. The tram stop is at the end of the street (1 min walk, not even that), there are loads of trams and you can be in Prague centre in 5 -10 mins. It's about a 10 - 15 min walk to the centre of Mala Straana and from there another 10 min walk to the Old Town Square. If you go right out of the hotel you can cross the bridge over the river and be straight in Novo Mesto. Hotel is in a great location, nice and quiet too. All in all a very comfortable lovely hotel. By the way, if you can climb lots of steps go to the top of the tower in Church of St Nicholas in Mala Straana - superb view from the top!
