Spent a few nights here just before high season started and found the place nice, clean, and comfortable. We had a 1 bedroom loft suite, which has a couple of queen beds in a separate bedroom (with ensuite) on the same floor as the living room/kitchen combo, plus balcony, and a larger loft upstairs together with it's own bathroom. The living room area had a fireplace and pull out sofa, but it's a tight space, especially combined as it is with the small efficiency kitchen.
With four in the suite, quarters seemed a bit close, but it was manageable. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable (pillows just okay), with nice finish-out. The courtyard can be a bit noisey when the window is open (AC was not very efficient at cooling, especially in the separate bedroom, but you can get a fan from the front desk).
Chili's is located in the lobby, and it provides the included continental breakfast, which was fine. The most interesting aspect of the hotel is the central, semi-indoor cave-like hot tub located in the basement with an opening in roof to the courtyard. Kids love it, but it didn't get very warm on the one occassion we were in it.
Location is a few long blocks from the main downtown area, but still not too far out. Views were fairly basic, but some rooms are no doubt better than others. For a fantatic view, I'd have to recommend the Jupiter, located above the main highway at the entrance to Banff -- the views (and meals --- and rooms, from what we could see) are fantastic!

We initially planned to stay at the Fox hotel for 6 nights as part of our wedding. We reserved three rooms and the hotel staff arranged it so that they were adjacent to one another, including a pass-through door between two of them.
The experience was great. The hotel is kept extremely clean and the comfortable, modern decor was very nice. Beds were firm, there was plenty of storage for clothing, and the hot water was very hot. It was great to walk out of the room and smell the wood smoke wafting up from the lobby fire. The entire staff, from reception to housecleaning, always had a smile and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there.
The hotel is roughly 6-8 blocks outside of downtown Banff which makes for a nice short evening walk for dinner.
Minor annoyances: a) there's only 1 elevator from the parking garage to the hotel floors and it can be lethargic at peak times, and b) the underground parking garage is all right-angles and support poles.
Neither of these annoyance were enough to stop us from shortening our Jasper trip and returning to the Fox for a few more nights before we had to return home. Highly recommended.
