TripTake Traveler Reviews
We stayed in room 201 for three days during mid-July. Based on some of the Trip Advisor reviews, we were concerned about noise, smells and no a/c in most rooms. But we felt the excellent location and some of the positive reviews outweighed the negatives and decided to take a risk for a three-day stay and we’re very glad we did. We tried to reserve a harbor view room but they were all booked.
Room 201 is a one-bedroom suite with a partial harbor view; it has a view of the harbor near the Pandora drawbridges. The living area, kitchen and bedroom are very spacious, well furnished and immaculately clean. The high temperature for all three days was in the mid 70s with lows in the high 40s or low 50s. The rooms never became uncomfortably warm even in late afternoon. The room had a small fan in the closet, which we used in the bedroom but the room would have been comfortable without it.
The harbor view rooms have more afternoon sun exposure than the partial harbor view rooms and are directly above the dock area for seaplanes. If you sleep with your windows open and like to sleep late in the morning, it might be an issue. We were very pleased with our stay and didn’t experience any of the problems reported in other reviews. Staff was very courteous and helpful.
Pita Pit directly across the street from the hotel is a pit. Doesn’t look very clean and they don’t keep their vegetables cold. Service and food quality were poor but they're open fairly late.
Chandler’s next to hotel has great salmon with good service and reasonable prices for the area.
While the location was great for shopping, eating & sightseeing, we found the room to be quite small and very hot, even with the windows open. The city view was so noisy, there were earplugs in the amenity basket! We found the front desk staff to be not at all helpful. In fact they gave us wrong information on several points of travel. The complimentary breakfast was very good, and had much to choose from, with the staff there being very nice.
Overall, it was o.k., but if you want a quiet hotel to rest, go to one a few blocks from the wharf.
