just returned from this hotel, having never done all inclusive before, or bulgaria either. There were parts of the holiday i loved, but sadly some that i hated.
The hotel was beautiful, luxurious and spotlessly clean. facilities there are excellent, 3 pools, 2 jacuzzis and a waterfall.
There are four restaurants. The asian is fabulous, but in all restaurants the food while excellent is loaded with salt, sometimes being unedible because of this. Towards the end of the holiday guests were given a customer survey to fill in and several must have complained about this, because the next night it was much better.
Staff are almost all friendly and polite, but struggle to speak English somewhat.
Balkan holidays claimed the transfer time from Varna airport was 30 minutes but was in fact 1 and a half hours!
Hotel rooms are large and luxurious. Aircon very noisy at night though.
The holiday was spoiled rather though by the guests. This hotel has 297 bedrooms and is 98 % german. My husband and i are easy going and friendly but the german guests were quite frankly rude, loud unfriendly and intimidating. They broke every hotel rule and the staff simply look the other way. It was such a shame because the hotel and staff are lovely.
Because of this we had to spend almost every day at the beach and at other bars at night, which defeats the object of all inclusive and was very expensive.

Just got back from a week at the hotel Bolero where we had a great time, the hotel was better than we had expected, since this was our first time in Bulgaria and we were a little suspicious of Eastern Europe countries' attitude towards tourists as well as the general standard of things.
The room was large, comfortable, quiet (regardless what other reviewers have experienced :-)) and clean, as was the hotel in general.
Staff, especially in the restautrants and reception, was very helpful and serviceminded, except perhaps for the pool bar staff, but since you can help yourself to softdrinks, coffee and beer that wasn't a problem. The food was really quite ok, and very good in the Bulgarian a la carte restaurante. Our only problem was that we tended to snack a little too much and too often. I would gladly go back there in the future, but would appriciate the experience even more would there be less loud and rude young Germans staying there since the group that was there offended pretty much every one at the pool by disregarding every pool rule there were. One of the other guests tried to reason with them, to no avail, but the staff just looked the other way. Apart from them, our stay was fantastic and we had a lovely holiday.
