Although Schloss Fuschl may seem to be remotely situated, one could almost forget how close it actually is to Salzburg. The city of Mozart’s birth is a mere 15 kilometres or so from the hotel. This makes Schloss Fuschl the ideal place to enjoy the city’s famous music festival – or in the winter months, to visit the charming Christmas market.

This is just the perfect place for a romantic gateway. We stayed for 3 days and we have absolutely no complaints. The rooms are huge and recently refourbished, the restaurnt is fabolous (although pricy), and we used estensively the spa and its treatments and we found them outsatnding. The city center is just at 20 minutes of an easy driving. The SPA is big, with a nice pool area, hot thub, saunas, and relaxing chair. We definetively recommend this fantastic place more for couples rather then children!

The Schloss Fuschl is a beautiful property that sits at the tip of Lake Fuschl. Our room was actually in the newer building on the property which means that it was fully handicapped accessible with a roll-in shower and the room was completely up to date with new furnishings, carpet, paint etc. It practically looked brand new. We had a patio and door leading to a grassy area where we could sit and enjoy the lake in the distance. On the property itself, there is a very, very steep hard gravel path that leads down to a wooden dock which has an outdoor restaurant as well as lounge chairs to sit down by the lake. The water was super clear so we could see all the fish swimming around the big floating dock. The only disappointment was the food which was horrible and the menu looked pretty much the same for all of the restaurants on the property. For dinner, we spent over $100 on two fresh fish entrées. The fish was so bad that I literally ate 2 bites and ended up going back to my room and eating snacks for dinner. Even worse is that the wait staff didn’t really seem to care or notice that neither one of us had eaten any of our food. The restaurant service was miserably slow as well. It was too bad because we sat on a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake, but the dinner ruined what could’ve been a romantic evening. Bottom line is that the hotel and room were excellent, but I’d recommend eating elsewhere. Problem is that the food options are a bit limited unless you are willing to drive a bit.
