The hotel is probably one of the best in Salzburg. I've tried several ones in the last years, but the Sheraton meets all the needs of the sophisticated traveller. When you are a member of SPG, you will get an update, including a late checkout. The beds are very comfortable, as the different pillows are. The supply of a variety of toiletries is also very enjoyable. The rooms to the park have a nice view to downtown Salzburg in winter, when the trees have no foliage. The only negative aspect is that the sauna is only operating for 4pm to 10pm, what does not meet any international standards. But all in all the hotel is a good choice, esp. if the hotel offers lower rates on its website.

The Sheraton is an ideal hotel for a short break in Salzburg. It's a comfortable 10-minute walk over the bridge to the attractive old town with its many handsome streets, hidden alleys, attractions and shops. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The lobby and neighbouring piano bar, which looks out on the Mirabell gardens, were inviting and clean. The twin room we had was comfortable and clean, traditionally decorated but showing some signs of wear. Maid service was excellent and the bathroom was spacious. We didn't eat at the restaurant, choosing instead to dine out. As breakfast wasn't included, we chose the cheaper option of eating in one of the many cafes, which are stocked full of delicious pastries. Salzburg isn't the liveliest city in terms of bars and clubs but we did find the excellent Carpe Diem - a bar, cafe and restaurant in one - and I'd highly recommend it at any time of day. In Salzburg, make sure you visit the castle (a hike up the hill for us in snow as the funicular railway wasn't working). The Residence is also worth a visit for its spectacular state rooms. The Mozart Residence, however, was one of the biggest museum disappointments I've experienced.
