Das Triest Hotel details:
The Triest Vienna is a luxury hotel in the center of the city. With the opening of the hotel in 1995, Vienna finally had its own hip hotel center piece: a sharp contrast to the city's charming, late 19th-century art nouveau architecture. A former coach station on the route from Vienna to Trieste, interior architect Sir Terence Conran's renovation converted the property into a unique and contemporary five-star hotel.
The building, called Stadt Triest (city of Trieste) was originally used as the main station and a stable for the horses pulling the stage-coaches between Vienna and Triest. These old cross-vaulted rooms, which give the building a distinctive flair, have been transformed into lounges, suites and meeting rooms. Das Triest is a perfect example for the symbiosis of history and modern design. Our staff are well aware of the fact that today's business travelers highly appreciate premium quality and personal service.

Check in / front desk
6.0
We stayed for 3 nights in June. The hotel is a little way (about 5-10mins) outside of the main centre of Vienna but it is very conveniently situated for Karlsplatz and the attractions there.
The rooms were clean and being designed by Conran (albeit in the mid 90s) appointed to the highest standards. Breakfast was good but not great. The staff were professional and helpful.
I know that there are better hotels in Vienna for the price (which is pretty hefty), so I probably wouldnt stay again, but I can't really fault the place.
