I booked a package ski deal for 8 people to stay in Soldeu. We picked this hotel purely for its proximity to the gondolas. I have to admit that I was very nervous after reading some of the reviews for this hotel particularly about the food. This was unjustified.
The hotel is very well kept and right in the heart of Soldeu, as a result you do hear a lot of noise from the nearby clubs and pubs. To avoid the noise I would recommend getting rooms on the higher floors.
The food was good enough that our group ate out only twice in our week long trip. There was usually a choice of 5/6 hot dishes, pasta and whatever was been cooked on the grill. In general, a good variety that would suit even the fussiest of eaters. Breakfasts were brilliant with enough food and plenty of choice for everyone.
The best thing was the Jacuzzi and Sauna. After a day on the slopes it was really needed! The steamroom however wasn’t very steamy. The hotel is well kept, the rooms are kept clean and the Jacuzzi area was always pristine.
The staff were always very pleasant, sometimes we encountered a language barrier but there was usually someone else from the staff to translate.
When you arrive I’d advise you to turn off all the radiators in your room. Like most ski hotels this one likes to overheat all of its guests. It was fine once you turned the heaters off after drying stuff.
The beds were very, very comfortable with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The rooms were very open plan. The one bed apartment had 2 single beds side by side and a pullout in a separate area. The staff were very obliging when we requested moving a bed into the separate area it was big enough to accommodate it. Be aware that these rooms are not suitable for a person sharing with a couple, there is absolutely no privacy because of the open plan, one bedroom does not necessarily mean a separate room.
The reception area was great with big comfy couches and internet access. There was also a separate play area for kids with those padded climbing things for the wee ones to scrabble over. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone; indeed I am contemplating returning to the same place next year.

Stayed at the hotel at the end of March 2008, the staff were all very friendly and helpfull.
Our room was large, well decorated and very comfortable with no intrusion from any external noise ( we were on 4th floor ).
Breakfast was excellent each day, evening meals were fine, though mostly Spanish style, which is either a problem or not depending on your likes. The food is not as good as The Sport ( for EG ) but we paid considerably less to stay at the Himalaia.
The only downside was that the lounge area became very smokey after dinner, as the smoking ban does not extend to Andorra.
The Hotel is very well placed and we would stay there again.
