I stayed at the Jolie Ville from 30th June for one week. LIke many people I had read the reviews on trip adviser and was prepared for a good hotel that needed a little updating. When I arrived at the hotel I was pleasantly suprised - the grounds were stunning and lovely to look at. Even more lovely were the pools especially the infinity pool which had wonderful views of the nile. However these were about the only good points of the hotel. Pretty soon after arriving we had our first experience of the staff at the hotel - they were disorganised at meal times and we were often left standing at the door to the restaurant without being greeted or given a table. Even more than this one morning we were told we would have to sit outside if we wanted a table for breakfast depsite the fact that many tables were free but needed clearing. When food eventually arrived it was terrible to say the least - luke warm and soaked in grease needless to say I only ate in the restaurant once. Being far from town I expected a nice bar to relax in in the evening - again I was disappointed - a small dark and dingy area in the hotel reception area is the only bar in the hotel and is hardly fitting for a hotel that believes itself to be 5* What was even more of a disgrace was the so called boat service to luxor town . On one occassion my firend and I waited 40 minutes for the boat which happily arrived on time. However, as soon as the boat docked at the peer over 50 workers from the hotel pushed people out the way to get a seat - they were even climbing through the windows!!! it was absolutely disgraceful..in the end many hotel guests were left on the peir after the boat departed with the workers. Considering that there are only two boats and three buses per day to luxor this was absolutely terrible. I even saw a family with young children being pushed out the way while the workers boarded the boat. Now the worst part - the rooms themselves. Im sorry but I have stayed in many 5* hotels in the world and the rooms and bathroom were worse than many youth hostels from my student days. Like the other review below my room also had a toilet brush that was brown with fecal matter - I was almost physically sick when I saw this and actually wanted to leave the hotel. The tv's were from the 1980's and totally inadequate for a 3* never mind a 5*. The bathroom themselves were cleaned daily but were not really clean - areas that were harder to reach like the area between the toilet and bath were not adequately clean and I felt dirty for the majority of the week. If you're not used to real 5* or even 4* accommodation then this will be ok but if you've stayed in true 5* accommodation then you will be terribly disappointed with this hotel. The hotel would be far better managing peoples expectations by regrading to a 3* which would reflect the service, rooms and ameinities at the hotel.

Stayed in this hotel during an overnight trip to Luxor before going to the Sound and Light show at Karnack (spelling). Reception was nice but sadly staff not particularly good. The bar in reception was very dark and the drinks very exspensive, ?5 for wine. The grounds were excellent with the the 2 pools spotless. Fantasic views as has been mentioned. Dinner was buffet for us and it was ok. I ate from the BBQ outside and was then told I should not have done that. No signs saying otherwise so didnt really care. The options inside were fish, fish or carrots. Not much really. Rooms were very poor. They were in a nice setting and cleverly done in circular sections of 16. However inside was old, dark and grotty. We had a cable run to the light in the roof that wasnt even tacked on, it was just hanging down. The room smelled awful and as only the main door opened that smell was going to take some time to go away. All in all, not a bad place, nice setting and nice grounds etc but very glad I wasnt spending more that one night at the resort.
