After 10 days driving up the east coast of Malaysia and across to Ipoh and the Cameron Highlands, in most places staying in clean but basic hotels, we were more than ready to spoil ourselves. And spoil ourselves we did!
Traders was not our first choice in KL but it most certainly will be in future. The hotel was very easily found whilst driving (unlike others within KL) and from the moment of parking our vehicle at the front of the hotel, we realised we were home! The staff were not only friendly and helpful but also genuine and sincere, even going as far as addressing us by our names in the following days. The service was personal and extraordinary.
Our room on the 28th floor was spotless, modern, spacious, well furnished and supplied daily with fresh fruit and bottled water. The king-sized bed was the most comfortable we found in all our Malaysian travels. The little touches like the subdued 'night-lighting', muted sound system when the telephone rang and free wireless internet connections made our stay so comfortable. Also included was a complimentary suit pressing and shoe shine, what? On holiday? Not likely!
An absolute must is to join the Traders Club. At MR45 each, membership provided us with access to the Traders Club Lounge up on the 32nd level (amazing 360 degree views over the city) which supplied the following complimentary services:
Continental breakfast
Afternoon tea
Evening cocktails
The breakfasts were great, fresh fruit, a choice of typical western breakfasts as well as westernised local food, tea, coffee etc all with table service.
Afternoon tea was a sumptuous affair with a large selection of finger foods, regularly replenished as each ran low. Again, the staff were exemplary.
Evening cocktails was two hours of wines, beers, cocktails and spirits. This alone was worth the price of joining the Traders Club!
The single weak area in this complex is the pool/Sky Bar. The pool is quite small with limited 'lounging' areas and at night time, the bar space is limited by the centrally located pool. It is neither one thing nor the other. Having said that, enjoying a cocktail at night in this bar during an electrical storm, is not to be missed.
Getting around from the Traders was simplicity itself with the mono-rail, LRT trains and a hop-on / hop-off sight-seeing bus all within an easy walking distance. The hotel also provides a free 'buggy' shuttle bus to transport guests across to the twin-towers complex.
Being one of the most comfortable hotels we’ve ever stayed in along with the unusually friendly and helpful staff makes this hotel an absolute must for further holidays in KL.
We recommend Traders KL very highly.
