Hotel La Bussola - , Italy 

I love Amalfi, it is where I went my honeymoon 17 years ago.. This year we went back as a family this time. La Bussola has a fantastic position right in the heart of Amalfi which is great. We had been in 2 other hotels in Italy already and both were great. Unfortunately we were booked on half board for a week. We lasted only one night for dinner as the food was terrible. One of the reasons that you go to Italy is for the food and this was not up to it. The hotel also seemed to have a much older client base which at times made it look like a bus party hotel. Its a good base and there are lots of good restaurants close by. Rooms were ok with good views. Did have to tackle a cockroach in my daughters room though. Two options for sunbathing. Platform on the seafront is pretty but swimming in a boat harbour is not ideal unless you like diesel. The terrace on the rooftoop is a real oasis of peace. Overall it was ok, location was the winner, but experience with food would probably mean that I will go back to another hotel next time in Amalfi

We arrived in our car with our TomTom guiding us...Right to the parking area in the back. The staff was very helpful upon arrival. The location was great, beautiful view and nice open terrace. The room was nice and spacious and breakfast was a typical Italian breakfast. We fell in love with the town square and were so close to the dock and were able to make day trips to Capri and Positano. Staff could have been a little friendlier after 3-days, but didn't really need guidance from them so that really didn't bother us too much. Would definitely recommend this Hotel La Bussola and would stay there again and again. Beware of the long winding drive if you're driving!
