Dining

The Shogun restaurant and sushi bar is one of the newest Polynesian restaurants in Athens. The focal point is a large wave sculpture and at the centre is the award-winning Zoom chandelier by Floyd Paxton, which illuminates the impressive main table that seats up to 20 people and can be reserved for large parties. Artefacts of China and Japan are artfully placed throughout the dining area, while the Zen garden, teak wooden panels and oak floors create a unique, warm and inviting atmosphere for a special culinary experience. The tasty authentic pan-Asian menu is prepared by master chefs with years of training and experience in their native lands. Among Shogun’s signature dishes are the king prawn roll served with sweet and sour sauce, the Makono duck pie with spicy curry and the sake pork. The sushi chef presents some of the freshest fish in town including yellowtail, salmon and tuna.

Featuring impressive Verde bamboo and Brazilian marble, the Shogun bar runs through the main lounge area, with 3-metre tall light boxes including bamboo canes, ultra-comfortable high-backed, green velvet designer chairs and cosy sitting areas. The bar is illuminated with elegant murano lights, while in the lounge area the Narita chandeliers create a relaxing and sensual Asian atmosphere. Enjoy the exclusive drinks at the Shogun bar with its extensive range of alluring cocktails, many of which blend freshly prepared fruit juices with sake and Japanese spirits. It is open until 01:00.

Our hotel’s conference and banqueting facilities seamlessly blend elements of grandeur with a sense of ease, incorporating superb aesthetics with the most distinguished personal attention. Whether hosting a social function or a corporate event, our hotel offers a wide range of ballrooms and salons to choose from. Let us simplify your planning and make your special event a distinctive and memorable experience.

Having just returned from a trip of the Greek islands our stay at Theoxenia Palace was just perfect. My family and I arrived with a delay and we were welcomed by very friendly staff and promptly given our rooms, after a long and tiresome journey. The next day we spent sightseeing and shopping in Kifissia, which is a very nice suburb not far from the center of Athens. We discovered in our trips that a lot of large chain hotels do not offer the 5* services that they should. In Theoxenia Palace, however this is not the case, since we had very good service - a real boutique hotel experience. It was our first trip to Athens and we really enjoyed it partly because of our stay here. We will definately return again and would highly recommend to our friends to stay at the Theoxenia !

The Theoxenia Palace is situated in the nice northern suburb of Kifissia - we purposely wanted to stay out of town, but be warned that Kifissia is a good way out of central Athens and the hotel is a good 20 minute walk from Kifissia metro station. In terms of the hotel itself, there is no way this is a 5* hotel. The welcome we had on arrival and from the staff we encountered was professional and pleasant, but the rooms and some of the central areas were tired with worn carpets and furniture, the bed was uncomfortable and there was only one bathrobe, bathroom slippers and pool towel for the 2 of us. The pool was old, dirty and had peeling paint and didn't really live up to its billing on their website. Buffet breakfast the following morning was fine. Last time I stayed here on business 4 years ago, my stay was pleasant but this time, the hotel looked and felt worn and tired. It's ok for one /two nights if you really need to be in Kifissia but we would not return - we have stayed in better for the same or less money in the Athens environs.
