Athens Oscar Hotel - Athens, Greece     

Oscar & Oscar Inn is a couple of buildings. We stayed in the annex building. (Across the alleyway from the main hotel.) The rooms were clean. And compared to the island hotels (Mykonos and Santorini) the shower was a luxury. (Good water pressure and room to move your arms.) The hotel staff was a mixed bag. The frontdesk clerk was rude when we checked in. But I think he was just overwhelmed. The next day he was quite pleasant. The bellman was interesting. He kept jumping out at us when we would enter or leave the annex building. (He would make a loud noise and startle us when he popped up.) The hotel charges you about $7 a day to use the safety deposit boxes. There's a pool and a bar on the roof of the main building. It has a great view (especially at night). The hotel is located by the metro station so getting around is easy. There a few nice tavernas close by. Leave the hotel, turn left. Go the the end of the building, turn left. At the stopsign, turn left. Take the 2nd right. Go a few blocks and you'll see a few tavernas around a church. Good food. Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, sausage, etc. The morning we left we were picked up at 5am. So the hotel made us up small boxed breakfasts. (Just let the frontdesk know the night before.) Overall our experience was pleasant.

the Hotel Oscar, is a really great place, its v. close to both the surburban rail and metro stations so you can visit lots of attractions. inside, the rooms are clean, airy and air conditioned and cleaned everyday.Admittedly the food is not so good but we only stayed bed and breakfast and the continental buffet was alright every morning. I have stayed here 3 times and would totally recommend this place, the staff are helpful and the rooftop pool is amazing when the temperatures rise in the day and you can see the acropolis from the pool! Take it from me that as a regular traveller that this is definately a good hotel to stay in. :)
