Citotel Pommeraye - Nantes, France 

Chose this hotel on the basis of reports here and it was bang on. Went for a slightly better room as it was for a special occasion and also phoned to request a quiet room, having read remarks here about some noise from revellers. Room 310 was perfect: absolutely quiet; spacious; view east to cathedral so got early morning sun; big windows so lots of air; good shower over bath; separate loo; no coffee/tea (knew that from reports here); no drawers - odd. Location of hotel could not be better - right in town and walking distance from all main sights plus bars/restaurants. For those who haven't been, and prefer to have an idea of where they are going, get off the tram at Commerce (all trams pass through Commerce); go up the road a bit, take left turn into rue d'Orleans, walk straight through the square (Place Royale if memory serves) and up rue Crebillon. Hotel is in Rue Boileau, off to the right. The whole is a three-minute stroll. Staff also excellent, friendly and helpful. Only thing we didn't like was the breakfast room: the food was fine (fab brown bread, very unusual in France, plus croissants, pain choc etc) but the room has no windows and was hot and cramped. For 3.90 we had coffee/toast/butter/jam in the chateau courtyard.
