Two nights here as a break from a long drive across Europe.
This hotel couldn't be more central, on the beautiful square in the pedestrian area. There's secure underground parking and the hotel is well signposted.
We stayed in a standard room with no view (it was dark while we were in it anyway!). It was a little old-fashioned but everything worked and the bed was very comfortable. You can see why it's no longer part of the Meridian chain; while there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it would need quite a bit of modernising to bring it up to standard.
We used the pool and saunas both days and had them to ourselves, which was great. The breakfast buffet was very good, with eggs cooked to order and plenty of cold meat, cheese and pastries.
Hildesheim is a lovely town and we were frustrated to watch the Christmas market preparations but know we'd have left before it opened! It would make a good day or two's break.
