Hotel information

The Grand Winston Hotel has a striking appearance. While the outside is robust and sturdy, the interior is remarkably different. The daring approach to the semi-public spaces was the responsibility of Concrete Architectural Associates, who were brought to help shape the construction. Transparency, or rather semi-transparency, is the key to their approach. Translucent curtains are used in several locations, most strikingly in front of the immense wall with 3030 LEDs; small lights in dozens of colours.

In the lobby behind the reception desk, the daylight of the seven-metre high wall of glass is broken by a ‘vertical chandelier’ of 1200 glass fibres that are broken at regular intervals so the light can escape sideways.
The à-la-carte Restaurant LEDS is in a concrete “bowl”, constructed on the spot, hanging above The Grand Canteen brasserie and the bar. All the kitchens are visible to the guests through glass walls.

Food & beverage

Restaurant Leds is the ideal place for a festive lunch or dinner in a very special atmosphere. The daring design and the wall with 3000 Led lights helpes to create the unique ambiance.
Opening hours of the Restaurant Leds:
Lunch from Tuesday till Friday 12:00 - 14:00
Dinner from Tuesday till Saturday 18:00 - 22:00
The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday.

The Grand Canteen is a brasserie with an informal atmosphere which has an extensive, international menu. Alongside excellent fish dishes, steaks and pasta, you can enjoy high-class sandwiches, vegetarian dishes, salads and hamburgers.
Open daily from 12:00 to 23:00.

Relax and feel at home in the lounge of The Grand Winston Hotel. Enjoy a fresh espresso, a cold beer or a cocktail prepared by our bartender. Snacks are available.
A wide variety of wines are served by the glass. Our staff are always eager to tell you about the characteristics of the different wines.
Open daily from 10:00 to 01:00.

The Grand Winston Hotel of course offers room service for the guests who would prefer to have food or drink in their room. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

An enormous circular panoramic painting of Scheveningen made in 1881. The painting is 14 metres high and has a circumference of 120 metres.

A museum with a world-famous collection of paintings comprising works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Potter and Frans Hals.

Peace Palace
The Peace Palace is a gift from the American Andrew Carnegie to the city of The Hague. At present the International Court of Justice is housed there.

Madurodam
Holland’s high points reconstructed in miniature.

Scheveningen
Stroll along the beach or visit one of the bars or restaurants on the boulevard. Fresh fish is available in many restaurants in Scheveningen Harbour.

Inspite of the name of the hotel, it is a very modern hotel. Breakfast was excellent.

The glass walls of the bathroom could be a little unsettling, or embarrassing if you were staying as a couple. But its something with a sence of modernness.

The beds are soooo hard that it feel like you lay on the floor - hard to find sleep. To come into the bathtube and out without a damage on the legs you have to be very careful and use both hands - and this for a young healthy person - what about the others. Regarding the beds they told us the other morning that they offer comfortable put-ons - would have been nice to know that the evening before

Nice breakfast, easy access from motorway.

No Wi-Fi, only wired access to Internet. Complicated air conditioner in room. Interesting glass-wall between the room and bathroom.

They kept my bags in storage and the bags returned in good form

Airconditioning was poor. I had to dispute minibar and telephone charges from my room, clearly indicating that staff were helping themselves, in the hope that the guest would either not notice or be too embarrassed to dispute charges. The charges were however removed from bill, which was good.

quality of the room

1. they tried to charge for extra bed a much higher amount then confirmed. 2. still high amount for extra bed+high breakfast charge for a child.

the design is very nice, the hotel is comfortable and the food is good quality.

The location (outside the city) is not fascinating and it is hard to find. The parking space is not enough. It could have a swimming pool, or at least a spa. Room service staff knocks on your door in the morning without request to do so.
